I say ‘new’ because what I really mean is ‘s NHS. The ‘new’ remodeled version of the that let’s face it, is a pale shadow of what it was meant to be. If you are lucky enough to live in the UK you’ll know that Doctor’s visits, hospital visits, operations, and so on, are free. You pay a small amount out of your wage every month but it goes up as you earn more, so you pay a fair amount. Etcetera.

Now let me tell you about the pathetic NHS that is a pale shadow, or at least, my experience of it.

I called the other day, I have a rash on my leg, I think it’s the washing powder I’m using. Anyway I called from work during lunch hour, the doctor’s surgery was on a ‘training’ session, please call back at 2:30pm. I did so. I asked if I could see the doctor, make an appointment etc., They said, no, there are no appointments left, please call back tomorrow. Perfunctorily. Tersely. They seriously need some manners training at the NHS…

Anyway what you might not have realised is that, at least around here at my doctor’s surgery, you have to call THAT day to get an appointment. You can’t call on monday to schedule a visit on Friday when you get off early from work. Noooo, they expect you to take time off to fit THEIR schedule. How clever eh?

What gets me riled is this though, I went through this a few months back. You’re supposed to call after 8am to get an appointment when you can fit it in before 6pm. So I called literally, at 8am. I didn’t get through to someone human until 8:05am. Five minutes after they’ve opened. I asked for an appointment and the woman said, ‘the earliest we have is 5:45pm’. EARLIEST!? How can they fill up 9 hours and 45 minutes of the day in just ->FIVE MINUTES< - of people calling?!

So as you may see I have little respect for the NHS, and for Labour who have pushed all these “reforms” through. Ridiculous…
