Hey Mac – got that browser issue sorted out? I checked with browser checkers all over the place and it comes up fine. Don’t know why yours isn’t showing the site properly. Reboot the computer perhaps? Check for updates maybe?

I honestly don’t think that having a death sentence actually prevents people from killing people but this is one of those situations when I wish we had one. Public hanging would even be too good for these people.

I can only imagine with horror what casualties the bombs would have caused with half a ton of ammonium nitrate. And those who had the ammonium nitrate and aluminium powder got an extra eight years. And to think a hangman’s rope would save the state the cost of incarcerating them for twenty-odd years.

Finally got my ass to the bank and set up a business bank account.

Was pretty harmless but of course there still is the inevitable checking and waiting until they say I’m ok. So I should hear back from them sometime this coming week. Then I have to go through the rigmarole of setting up online account, changing my Paypal over etc., Boy what a load of hoops you have to jump through eh?

It’s just at that time of the year when the flowers are starting to bloom, the trees have their full coat of leaves on them, and you can -just- smell the sweet scent of pollen in the air. All very well and good. Not so good if you suffer from hay fever, chronically.

When I lived in the US it wasn’t a problem, for some reason none of the pollens there affected me. I come back here and it smacks you in the face (well, the nose and eyes actually) welcoming you back to old blighty.

It’s nice, it’s so pleasant especially in the balmy weather we’re having, but in a week or two I know I’m going to sniffling and crying like a newborn. :(

In the space of a week or two it has gone from me requiring heating at night to get somewhat comfortable to boiling hot and me considering taking a cold shower. I know that the weather in the UK is a little screwy of late (24C in London, in April, need I say more?) but this is ridiculous. As my workmates like to say, it’s global warming. No kidding…

Mind you it could be the fact that my computer is on for very long stretches at a time. Or that I used the oven to heat homemade shepherd’s pie. Or that I had a shower when I got back from the gym. I wonder…

Seems I went to the gym last night.

And today, I -definately- know I went to the gym last night. My shoulders and upper arms are sore. Mind you, at least you know you’ve done something then. I didn’t pull anything and I know I felt really good last night when I got back home.

So, looking forward to tomorrow, another session at the gym!

Does such a beastie exist?

I actually got into mixing cocktails a few months back. A nice cocktail after a hard day’s work is like nothing else (well there are a few things, but I can’t mention them here).

The perfect martini though… I tried James Bond’s martini from Casino Royale, technically called ‘The Vesper’. It should be noted, he actually orders a ‘dry’ martini…

The ingredients:

  • 3 measures Gordon’s Gin
  • 1 measure Vodka
  • 1/2 measure Kina Lillet
  • thin slice of lemon

Drinksmixer also has a ‘perfect martini‘ recipe, but I don’t care for it much – it has no vodka and it has both kinds of vermouth in (isn’t that a ‘dirty martini’ though?).

Kuro5hin has a good recipe too, and what an exquisite way to describe making it. From start to finish it’s like reading a novel just as you get to the steamy parts. At the end, his ‘Man, I need a martini’ is justifiable.

The title says it all.

Except that it doesn’t. I mailed them (IT-Buy) a long time ago, said I wanted to return the item, and I wasn’t happy with it, and that I wanted a refund.

I get a mail from them today. They’re sending me a replacement. WTF!? And to top that off, there’s an invoice in the email they send me, making it look like I just bought it again. So I mailed them back saying they’d better not be charging me for anything. I get a response:

Dont be alarmed, its an automated email which gets tagged and sent when an order is dispatched. The replacement 3 Com router has been sent out today and should arrive tomorrow.

Dispatched? -Replacement?!-

Oh no, now I have another one. Grrr…

I’ve been seriously thinking about getting a new (modern) mobile phone. The one I’m using it from the last century and to be honest with you, the monochrome screen belongs in a museum…

So since I’m getting my business up and running and getting more and more work, I’ve been thinking that it would be a good idea to have a phone capable to reading email, as well as (possibly) the capability to view websites.

My choices so far: the new Blackberry Pearl, or the Palm Treo 750v. Both look pretty swanky and have all the capabilities I’m looking for. So what I’m wondering is – does anyone have opinions on either? Could you help me out, tell me if one is better than the other?

What a great Grand Prix!

Sometimes you just get races that are bland, there’s no competition, there’s the deference to drivers who have a lot of points etc (read: Michael Schumacher, everyone seemed afraid of him) and that makes the races so boring and bland.

This one though, sizzling hot from start to finish. What a great drive by Lewis Hamilton, he was like a bulldog who had licked his prey and was hot on his tail waiting to sink his teeth in. He wouldn’t let go of Massa and a few more laps and he’d have had him. And now, 3 races in, 3 podiums for Hamilton, and he’s drawn for 1st place in the driver’s championship.

Good on ya, Lewis!
