I read a funny article on The NY Times today, about a girl’s parent(s) joining Facebook and entering ‘her’ world. I suppose that I could be classed as one of those parents at my age (34), but I am probably in the mainstream still, thankfully.

It got me thinking about it though, I can’t imagine my own parents being online in any way like that. I can blog happily away in the knowledge that they won’t read it. My brothers and sisters might of course, but even that’s unlikely. The only one who has shown any kind of interest in contemporary internet is my brother Tim, who I work with anyway.

I tried to get my father interested in the internet, to get him using a webcam so I could see and talk to him. That hasn’t progressed as far as I might have wanted. He goes online once or twice a year I think. Mum’s even worse, she doesn’t use a computer and her eyesight precludes her from doing so.
