We’re having a series of those summer storms right now. The kind that sweep in, let loose huge quantities of water in deluges then all of a sudden it’s bright and sunny again. Right now, as I write, it’s that pale yellow kind of dark light just before a storm – the few spots of rain make it seems almost peaceful, but the cracks of thunder coming from the other side of the street and beyond really let you know what’s in store.

The river Lud is getting a little flush now, and yesterday we had flood warnings. Unluckily for us Louth sits on the edge of the wolds (what counts as ‘mountains’ in this area), so all the water in the area will come through the town. So it’s a worry…

And now here it comes, the dark clouds, the rain is getting harder and thicker, and the thunder is nearly overhead. I think I might shut the ‘puter down now …
