‘Rain’ doesn’t quite describe it well. It has been pouring it down yesterday and today.
So much so that this morning I went in to work early so I could get a lift from Oli. It was torrential. It was at work that we heard that the River Lud had broke its banks and started flooding low-lying areas of Louth. Not much, but enough to let people off work (not us though). Broadbank, just by the local supermarket (which I assume, was also flooded since it’s on the same level), looks awful as you can see from the picture.
We swung by Paddy‘s house tonight, his house is maybe thirty feet from the river. It was high, very high.
The worst news is – we’re in for another night of it. More, and presumably worse, flooding.
I am thankful I live the other end of town. Gospelgate might get it in some really bad flooding, but probably not this.
