You tried hard. You failed. But you can keep your heads high, you didn’t fold and you didn’t give up. Good job South Africa, maybe next time the shoe’ll be on the other foot. Like one of the commentators said, England kept on piling into South Africa’s line right next to the scrum, when they should have been passing along the line and trying another point of attack, I think that was their main weakness. Oh yes, and the try that wasn’t given…

Now Lewis Hamilton must hold the hopes of the nation as he gets ready for the Brazil Grand Prix. God I hope he makes it, because we can’t count on the english football team that’s for sure…

At least, they should do. What a calamity yesterday, England losing to (of all teams) Russia! God can our football team get any worse… well at least we didn’t lose to Georgia. I blame the plastic pitch, that has to be the cause.

If this nation is so preoccupied with political correctness, why is it that the political party of the Liberal Democrats, and the news agencies that reported on it, used age as an excuse to get rid of Sir Menzies?

It’s not like a potential Prime Minister is running laps you know, they sit on their arses all day long, occasionally get up to go to Parliament or out to kiss babies on political rallying, but come on, he’s only 66 after all.

Today (tonight actually) we learn that alcohol is bad for you. Pretty much ANY alcohol is bad for you. That’s what the news report said. Specifically it said that those people living in a middle class neighbourhood (then proceeded to show us houses worth £3.75 million) drinking one glass of wine a day are drinking ‘hazardous’ levels of alcohol.

What the f***!?

First of all, £3.75 million house-owners don’t drink cheap plonk. Oh yeah, and aren’t ‘middle class’ by any stretch of the imagination.

Second, what evidence did the BBC and ITV present? Oh yes, that’s right, none. They said a report said it was bad. That’s it. No less days in our lives, no claims about new cancer worries, nothing whatsoever.

Third, one glass of wine a day!? ONE? Give me a break. That’s barely touching the surface of ‘relaxed’…

And that’s what really bugs me. What about car exhaust? What about warning pregnant mothers about that? They can hardly avoid going outside can they? But do they (or we) get warned about that? What about junk food? Do we get warnings about that? Just the mild protestations that it could be bad and we need to watch out.

Surely the news organisations in this nation have something better to do than to scare the crap out of normal people who, let’s be honest, need a drink or two a day just so survive the inane drudgery of life, the skyrocketing mortgage payments and the less than ideal wages we all earn?

I caught this at work, thought you might appreciate the humour…

Even when you are having a really bad day…

Someone will still screw you!

I am reminded of Blackadder, how difficult it must be for the Tory frontbenchers to refer to the Chancellor in this way.

‘Oh Darling, couldn’t you have thought of something original instead of nicking our ideas?’

Come on Prime Minister, get your lackeys to put their grey matter to work! Stop stealing the Tories’ ideas!

After watching the debacle that was the Chinese Grand Prix .. well ok, maybe not that bad, but it was disappointing to see Lewis Hamilton not finish and thus not become World Champion. I just think that McLaren really let him down by not getting him in earlier. For several laps he was struggling, you could his car sliding around, he was going wide on several corners where he would not have normally done, and Kimi was rapidly catching him up and eventually overtook him.

The rear tyres were so worn down the rubber had worn off of them! It was down to the canvas underneath, you should not see that.

So now we (Lewis, I mean) are down to the wire with three drivers vying for the championship on the last race in Brazil. Let’s all keep our fingers crossed and spare a thought for Lewis.

Just as an update to my Lincolnshire Police post earlier on last week, I just want to say that I have STILL not heard anything back from them. Thank God I wasn’t reporting a burglary or attempted murder…

And in the world of the insanely sublime, muslims are objecting to selling alcohol at the checkout:

Islamic workers at Sainsbury’s who object to alcohol on religious grounds are told to raise their hands when encountering any drink at their till so that a colleague can temporarily take their place or scan items for them.

How ridiculous is that?

But, some Islamic scholars do believe that it is:

Sainsbury’s said this weekend it was keen to accommodate the religious beliefs of all staff but some Islamic scholars condemned the practice, saying Muslims who refused to sell alcohol were reneging on their agreements with the store.

Let me ask a question of those that object: are you objecting to selling pork products?

What’s next, I wonder? Products made by wholly-owned Christian corporations? What about products made by Jewish companies, I just know that the Muslims love Jews, so that has to be coming soon…

And here’s another question: what about a consumer at the store, can they object to being served by a Muslim? How would that go down, I ask you?

How many times must we go through this rigmarole? Can we not let Diana rest in peace? Doesn’t she deserve that (and for that matter, doesn’t Dodi)?

Yet again we have another inquiry, inquest, investigation, or whatever we want to call it. This time there is a jury (of eleven?) and this time, just like all the other times, Mohammed Al Fayed is hopeful his theory that the Crown had something to do with the death of Diana and Dodi, will be proven true.

My question is this Mr Al Fayed – if they find it was an accident, when will it end for you? If we go on and on for decades, twenty inquiries or more, until finally someone says there was a possibility of involvement, will you then boast to the world that the truth has been revealed, despite other inquiries showing none?

Let them rest, let us mourn the Princess’ death, and get on with your life.
