Japanese Whaling, for Scientific Reasons
Of course, what other reasons could there be? I mean, when the meat then goes on sale in Japan for food, that’s just a by-product of “science” isn’t it?
What really confounds me though is this - they do this every year right? Or at least they usually do. And they get how many hundreds of whales? Just how stupid can the Japanese be that they cannot perform their scientific reasons on the hundreds of whale carcasses they’ve already gathered?
Also, wouldn’t scientific research be more fruitful if the whales were alive? It’s not like they’re taking our resources, they eat krill for god’s sake. It’s not like they’re dangerous beasties which need culling.
Not such a great photo opportunity when your whaling ships just harpoon a mother and calf, is it? (the link goes to a site with a YouTube video of it; this link goes to a high-res photo of it, nsfw)
If you feel as disgusted as I, you can join an email campaign to help fight this atrocity - follow this link and at the bottom of the page is a link to get your name on the list.
