Why is it that the government is so obsessed with couples? This morning I saw a new initiative by the Labour government saying they’d help couples buy homes. Part financing by government, and they announced they’d raise the threshold for stamp duty.

Yes that helps people buy their first home, not having to fork out 1% of the house value in tax. But again, the government spokesperson kept hammering on about couples - there are other people who want to buy homes that aren’t a couple you know!

This is just like tax breaks/credits, all focused on couples/families, never the single person. Entirely unfair!
