There is a debate going on here about assisted suicide. The CPS has declined to prosecute two parents who took their son to Switzerland to commit suicide. Declined to do so primarily because he was adamantly determined to take his life and they begged him not to, but he would do so anyway. Despite that reasoning, no-one has been prosecuted for it.

The recent round has been because tonight, there is a TV show on Sky showing someone doing just that, and showing the moment of his death. Hence the debate.

The Prime Minister, our idiot-in-chief, has not done anything about this and declines to do so. I honestly thought that MPs were supposed to do what we, the people, wanted them to do. Isn’t that the way democracy works? We elect them to represent us etc., Well everyone I talk to seems to believe it’s fair to let people commit suicide if they want, especially the terminally ill. So why aren’t our MPs doing something about it?

My question is this though: why does the government feel it has a right to decide how I meet my death? If I’m determined enough I could jump off a bridge, or jump in front of a train. But if I’m terminally ill, and can’t move, and in great pain and suffering, doctors can’t help me end my life. How insane is that? With our overcrowded island you would think the government would be happy to help!
