You ever have one of those moments when you can’t answer a question? Google usually answers most of them, but this one it does not. In fact most of the answers you get are whether sound travels faster in air than water or vice versa.

But have you ever thought about where sound actually goes? Sure we know about echoes, we know about how well sound travels in canyons and so on, but what actually happens to sound? It’s a wave right, like light – which travels on and on but is also a particle (photon) and so can be deflected, so what happens to sound. It’s a wave too, so, what is it and where do it eventually go?

Perhaps it’s one of those philosophical things like a bear in the woods, or sounds going on and on forever around the world. If you listen hard enough you can hear the words of Confucius etc.,
