Here’s a question for you: if our Governments can now afford to spend (and in most cases, borrow) many many billions to bailout banks who are (most of us believe) just going to do the same thing again (lend to people who can’t pay back) because the same Governments won’t pass stricter laws (has one law yet been pased?) – how come they can’t spend these billions on healthcare, better education, public transport, security, and so on, when we’re in boom times?

The month that barely seemed like one. And it ended on a real high note for me, yet another root canal. On the other hand we’re expecting snow on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday which is a real treat. Nothing like the -40 temperatures that Mac’s facing, but still something for this area.

Sorry Mac, I feel for you, I really do. Honest.

Given that this is one of the most important things in our lives, present for let’s say half of it (generously), why doesn’t our moon have a name?

Perhaps it does – can anyone tell me if it does?

God Big Mac’s are good. I almost forgot what they tasted like. I had my first one in over a year today, as I got the chance to go out and do a bit of vinyling. On the way back we needed a place to stop for lunch so MacDonalds was it.

I know I know, it’s bad of me, and I know how laden with fats, salts etc., they are, but one in a year isn’t bad, is it?

There is a good conversation going on on the BBC News site about whether Auschwitz should be preserved or left to rot. My vote, preserve it. In fact expand the presentation with film libraries constantly playing of the camp, the ovens, the deaths, and most importantly the overall count of how many died in all the camps.

If we (or rather Poland in Auschwitz’ case) let it rot it fades from memory, and we humans have a very nasty habit of repeating history and not learning from it (the religious wars of the 16th century – the current Islamic insurgencies).

Germans are not Nazis as they were, they are repelled by what happened (at least we assume so and are shown so), so it is in their interest just as much to preserve such places. The Nazi party rose on the back of a terrible recession with a strong leader promising to bring Germany back to power and prestige. If we let such camps fade we are in danger of that happening again somewhere.

Lastly, we -should- be reminded of such places, the very depths that humanity can sink to. And don’t for a minute think that Germans are the only ones capable, the Russians did the same and worse, the North Koreans are accused of similar. If they can do it, so can we, so we should teach our children what should not be done, and camps like Auschwitz are clear examples.

Numbness takes over and you’re quite happy and relieved when they start with the drills. I can take that. I can even take the jaw-jarring drill that seems to really be quite rough, even though I did sink a little further into the seat.

Then I caught sight of the root canal file. I’ve seen one before but it’s like those car crash victims who have amnesia, I forgot it immediately. Today it brought it all back and I sat there thinking about how bloody large these things were and he was pushing it up into my jaw.

Ow. Double ow. Thank god for jaw-numbing drugs.

Mr Brown, are you f***ing blind?

How could you not see the recession coming? It’s been in front of us for about a year now, and we’re now officially in recession with two quarters of negative growth, so you must have known for at least the past six months! Before that the housing market crashed, the banks crashed, and jobs have been shed month after month, what more do you need, a bloody roadmap?

Honest to God, who elects these idiots? And before you say I did, I did not. In fact, no-one did since he’s not an elected leader but foisted upon us because he stabbed Mr Blair in the back.

That’s how much it would take to kill me.

Drip coffee mind you, none of this instant coffee sludge I was forced to drink for the past few years. Now I have a drip coffee machine I’ll be gunning for those 85 cups in a day, and instant heart attack!

How can anyone drink that much?! sounds like a Nirvana song…

I have a dentist’s appointment this Friday.

For a needle in my tooth and a root canal.

Joy.
