Do you think (and please comment!) that a charitable donation by a member of parliament (or congress, house etc) should be considered as an expense?

The recent release of all our MP’s expenses online (albeit redacted heavily, so hardly “open”) made me a bit curious, so I looked up my MP. All those damned donations made me a bit annoyed, after all, surely it’s -him- who is donating the money, not him donating -our- money!
