Poor old Sarkozy, threatening to walk out of the G20 summit if he doesn’t get his own way. Clearly he isn’t ready for international diplomacy yet if this is how he reacts among other leaders.

Play nice frenchie, you can’t get away with doing this kind of thing all the time.

I don’t believe this! I just cracked a tooth! Not to mention the fact that I lost one a few weeks back (a crown fell out), this is getting to be a damned expensive month for the dentist for me! Again.

Times flies, does it not?

Another summer time has arrived, time has gone forward and we lose an hour. Not much of a problem I suppose, but I’m getting up early at 7am tomorrow to see the Australian Grand Prix, so it makes a difference then!

Here’s hoping we have a good summer though, because last year’s was awful!

How many years of war has there been already? Six? Seven? Afghanistan is a no-go zone for anyone, it’s an unstable hell-hole that even the Taliban won’t live in, as they commute from Pakistan.

Now we hear that President Obama is sending in 4,000 trainers. Isn’t this what happened in Vietnam? Trainers sent in first? Although I suppose there the combat troops came in afterwards…

What is it about waking up on work days versus other days? When it’s work, I get up at 6:45am. When it’s not I usually get up around the same time. I go to bed about the same time every night, but on workdays I just feel knackered when I get up.

So bloody strange I wish I could figure it out. Going to bed earlier doesn’t do anything, I just can’t get to sleep.

Does anyone else find politicians amazingly frustrating when listening to them? They can NEVER answer a question directly! Ask them what colour they think the sky is and they go on and on about something related but really never answer the question simply. I think if we had someone who answered a question they’d do so well with the public!

I couldn’t believe my ears this morning when I heard that Stephen Fry had twittered comparing Jade Goody to Princess Diana. I assume this is re: charitable works, good works in lifetimes etc.,

Let me just say: Stephen, you’re an ass. I think you’re a great actor, but on this topic, you made an ass of yourself.

Princess Diana worked on a myriad of projects because she believed in them, none of which affected her, none of which afflicted her. I suppose you could say she “had” to do them because of who she was, but I suspect she didn’t, she could have sat on her ass all day long drinking gin and tonics and she’d still have been loved by the British public. She didn’t. She poured her heart out into land mine extermination, kids charities, leprosy, and so on, it was seemingly neverending. She put her position to good use.

Jade Goody was a selfish, self-centred bigot. She had cancer and because of that one thing she campaigned for reducing the age of free cervical cancer scans from 25 to 20 (incidentally, it used to be 20, the Labour government increased it). What did she do? Did she actually have a job? I don’t believe she did. She was reality TV star who thought the sun shone out her big arse.

The one thing both of them shared, is that most of us feel sorry for their kids. Other than that, if anyone’s going in the Saint category I think can all agree which one it will be.

It’s a strange state to be in when a country doesn’t want the Dalai Lama to attend the peace conference they are holding. I suppose he’s just not peaceful enough. Perhaps the Chinese propaganda about the Dalai Lama being a ‘terrorist’ is having some effect after all?

That this nation is South Africa, a place well versed with propaganda and somewhere with a recently checkered history, might surprise you. They have refused the Dali Lama a visa. Idiots.

Eskimo Nebula

You know you see those posters with the hourglass nebula, the wonderful space pictures that they say came from Hubble, taken halfway across the Universe etc? They’re really beautiful right? Like the one here, the Eskimo Nebula.

So when they have these groundbreaking new finds why can’t they ever have them in beautiful colour and detail? For that matter, why can we never get a picture of a recently exploded supernova in stunning detail? One that just happened a week or two ago and so on?

Today we have this article from MSNBC showing some weird star anomaly but look at the photos – how can we see anything from that? Talk about impossible! If they want us to be enthusiastic about these things you have to let us see them.

So I just finished off Chuck Palahniuk’s Choke, finally, and I’m looking for ideas on new books. I’m about halfway through A Thousand Splended Suns, but I suspect I’ll get through that in a bit, so I need something good.

Anyone got any ideas?
