I tend to think that computers are a great gift to humanity. Or at least, tended, past tense, to think that.

It hit me tonight that in fact, it’s the opposite. Mostly because I got three phone calls from someone I work with asking about how to fix a computer with some weird virus on it. He knew mostly how to fix it, just asking if he was right. So, one, the fact he knew how to fix it shows you how common they are, and two, that I’ve fixed them so many times I can’t county how many.

They take up so much of our time that we actually make them part of our lives. Point in fact, mobile phones – bloody electronic tethers and addiction dispensers. Apps are a mindless drip tube, they really stitched us up when some bright spark wondered just what you could do with a handheld phone. That being said, the iphone really is a marvel…

I bet if we stopped using computers, the amount of electricity we’d save would save the planet. Google’s electronic footprint alone could probably be detected by an alien civilisation on their homeworld. If we stopped using computers, maybe we’d talk to each other or go out a lot more, have more concerts and so on.

So, are they worth the hassle?

Today was one of those long days at work when you tend to think time slowed down for some reason. We were flat out though, lots of work to do. It gives you something to keep your mind occupied I suppose.

So the afternoon passed by then the clouds got darker, and 15 minutes before hometime, it really opened up. The rain let up as we biked home, thankfully, but it wasn’t very encouraging. Tonight as I waited for my dad, the thunderstorms came, and it was a real bashing.

The rain was non-stop, and the thunder was continuous for a while. The clouds, a dirty grey was suddenly lit up by yellowy grey spots and patches, that kind of colour that you only see in thunderstorms. The smell of ozone in the air was good, I love that ‘just rained’ smell, but we got soaked going home. Nevermind, the turbot was great :)

How very bloody annoying! I actually want to work, to get cracking on one of the jobs I have, and after setting up the domain on the dreamhost server, it suddenly goes dead. I can’t get into to the management panel, thus I can’t do anything.

Painful. Especially since I was all geared up to doing some work. C’est la vie.

I just thought that title might get a traffic spike, but it is about PS3 updates and there -is- a COD release soon (Call of Duty for the non-gamers).

The patch tonight was a real nightmare to download, slow as molasses. The install was marginally quicker, but then I couldn’t log into the PS network. So, no COD tonight, in anticipation of the new release coming soon. Thought I’d prestige sometime soon, just to say I’d done it on this version.

Still can’t log in to the network, I imagine there’s millions downloading the patch. Servers are probably breaking down. I’ll go read Mel’s blog in the meantime!

Heeeeyyyyy! Yeah I know, Mel, Mac, it’s just been one of those kinds of weeks/months. We’re working another hour a day at work, so it’s just getting a bit more difficult to squeeze everything into the day. And to cap that off I haven’t been motivated lately, or I’ve been doing other things that just tend to take up the time.

But I am back! I’ll be back on more for sure.

Funny thing happened to me tonight. After dinner, I went to get changed and I pulled the curtains together. The whole shebang, curtains, railing, fixings, screws and all, came crashing down on top of me. It was just one of those end of the day moments when you’re stood there thinking, ‘Perfect’.
