We have come this far, pointing out fact after fact in the long struggle to rid ourselves of religious intolerance and mumbo-jumbo, only for influential people to speak out that Creationism (the literal view that the world was created in 6 days, as in the Bible/Koran) should be taught alongside Darwinism – as a science subject.

What nonsense! The thing that really irks me is that this is all because of a BOOK! If archaeologists (who under Creationism must be considered some kind of graverobbers) find a tomb tomorrow and in that tomb is a book dated from say, the early Mesopotamiam period (even though they didn’t have “books”), and it said the world was created in 10 days, what would the Creationists say? Surely an older book would carry more authority, -especially- (he writes rolling his eyes) if it says God told them to write it in that book! Would they then abandon the Bible?

Darwinism, or more well known – the evolution of species – does not specifically say God did -not- create the Universe. It only says we evolved from earlier species. There is plenty of proof of this. It does not discount the fact that God could have created the Universe.

What Creationism says though, in its total lunacy, is that things like fossils, or even rock strata, oil, the moon, planets etc., were all placed there as is by God. The world, according to them, was created around ten thousand years ago.

Two things out of this post; for my own country’s powers that be to ensure that this does not become taught in our schools; second, please America, don’t vote in McCain/Palin, you would not be doing yourselves any favours.
