It’s so refreshing to see people speak for us, and be completely and utterly wrong.
Today we hear our non-elected leader Mr Brown come out with this nonsense:
“What the prime minister supports is Tony Blair’s candidature for the president of the European council if Tony Blair decides that that is what he would like to do and as and when such a position exists.
“I’m not sure I would characterise it [Kinnock's remarks] as an announcement. I don’t think it is any surprise that the Europe minister in this government has said that we would support Tony Blair as a candidate.”
Yes and that’s it exactly. Mr Brown supports. Not the country. We need to have a referendum on this. -Our- choice, Mr Brown, -ours-, not yours.
If anyone in the world believes the British people back our Prime Minister, the next election will see that reality come crashing down. Pity us, for our electoral system is screwed up. We vote in the party, not the person, so if a PM resigns or is forced out, we are stuck with whatever moron gets the job.
For some things of course, Mr Blair did a good job, far better than the person who stabbed him in his back (the current PM). But we as a people should vote in who we want to represent us in a European election.
For that matter – do we even get a vote in who is the European President?

I would like to comment on your political blog posts, but I know nothing about it. Any of it.
