I just watched England play Algeria.

The game ended in a 0-0 draw, and I got a text from a friend saying:

That’s a right joke I think me and you could of done better

And that’s about right. England played shit. They simply didn’t look like professional footballers. Why didn’t Fabio take Walcott? And why won’t he EVER play Crouch from the beginning, and always brings him on as a substitute? And what is this slavish devotion to 4-4-2?

We barely held our own and some of our players just didn’t look when they passed, Rooney kicking it without looking and straight to the other team, back passes to the goalie that were under-strength, and crosses that just sailed into nowhere.

There is no way we can call ourselves contenders for the World Cup. We’re barely almost-rans!

Watched the Uruguay/France match tonight, and also caught a bit of the opener this afternoon, and I have to say that these vuvuzela horns are bloody annoying. To say they add to the atmosphere of the game may be true, in the flesh, but not on TV.

I wonder if the TV networks can introduce some kind of noise dampening when they broadcast to get rid of the sound of the horns? The opener this afternoon was louder, but then again it was South Africa playing, so it was to be expected.

*tongue in cheek*

This was mentioned the other day when I was playing COD4 with the clan, and someone posted this on the forum board. It has gotten several people into trouble, and if you go to take a look at the original link you’ll see further on down the page what I mean – here is the first paragraph which got people’s attention:

It has just been reported by Reuters that that an unnamed member of the Croatian football team has failed a substance test. If the results of the test is confirmed, under UEFA rules (para 6, sub-section 2(e), Croatia will forfeit the 3 points that the team gained from the recent European 2008 qualifier with England, and the English team will be off to compete in next year’s European Championship Finals.

At least, they should do. What a calamity yesterday, England losing to (of all teams) Russia! God can our football team get any worse… well at least we didn’t lose to Georgia. I blame the plastic pitch, that has to be the cause.
