Everything’s so bloody icy! The pavements, at least on the non-main roads, are thick with the stuff, a couple of inches in most places. The roads too. The main roads aren’t bad, they’ve lavished salt on them to say the least.

At least we can work tomorrow, but it’ll be a nightmare getting there and back with the ice. Not sure if I should walk or bike?

How many times must we read that scientists believe that there was once flowing water on Mars, but now it’s cold and there’s just ice. They keep hammering on over and over that water is essential for life, we need water, life needs water etcetera etcetera.

Does it not strike anyone that we are so short-sighted? Why are we so myopic about this subject? Surely there are other substances that life can survive on? Scientists have suspected for some time that sulphur could be a life-essential element the same as carbon.

An example of this viewpoint and it being overturned is the insistence that life couldn’t survive in high temperatures then they found the fumaroles at the bottom of the ocean and temperatures exceeding 100C, with lots of life clustered around them.

So when can have a wider view of what life is, and what could survive in different circumstances?
