All this jibber jabber about a recession when in reality it spurs people on to do better.

Two friends of mine are trying hard. We all have regular work, day work, but one is trying to get a bench-building business up and running (and to be honest he does build pretty decent benches, chairs, outdoor tables etc.,) and the other builds bespoke <del datetime="2009-04-21T21:47:19+00:00">chalets</del> sheds/gardening out-buildings. Obviously I do web work.

So even though there is a recession clearly there is a drive to succeed even in these trying times. In that sense the government is doing their job, making sure the country still runs, we all keep our jobs to a certain extent. On the other hand future generations will be saddled with massive debts, including ourselves.

Mr Brown, are you f***ing blind?

How could you not see the recession coming? It’s been in front of us for about a year now, and we’re now officially in recession with two quarters of negative growth, so you must have known for at least the past six months! Before that the housing market crashed, the banks crashed, and jobs have been shed month after month, what more do you need, a bloody roadmap?

Honest to God, who elects these idiots? And before you say I did, I did not. In fact, no-one did since he’s not an elected leader but foisted upon us because he stabbed Mr Blair in the back.

Finally, the government has had to acknowledge that we’re in a recession. Our growth has stagnated, and there’s barely a hair’s breadth between that and official recession. So let’s be honest here, UK is in full recession.

Interestingly though, I still have work, just waiting for house prices to dip even lower and I’ll consider buying one and actually getting on the property ladder myself when prices hit rock bottom.

From a personal point of view, statements like this (from the government) are laughable:

“The Government’s priority is to guide Britain through these challenging times, while also supporting those hit hardest as a result of these global factors,” a Treasury spokesman said.

That’s so very true of course, but laughable because the Labour government just scrapped the lowest tax bracket meaning those of us at the lowest end of the earning bracket pay more tax. Thanks Mr Brown, I truly appreciate that. And of course, I don’t fit in any category applicable for a refund. I’m single, live alone, and have no children, so that means the government won’t help me out or give me tax credits. Great country this is …
