I am not a gardener. Far from it.

I have this tree inside, it’s an indoor plant I’m sure of it. But like I said I’m no expert. The parents came by a weekend or two back and over tea and conversation my mum suggested I put the tree outside for some light and re-pot it.

Well I put it outside and it seemed ok. I haven’t had the chance to re-pot it mind you.

I brought it back in the other day because it was raining heavily, or threatening to at least. The next day I noticed it – all the leaves on the floor. My tree was dying! I hadn’t even done anything to it!

That’s the last time I listen to mum about plants, even given how green-thumbed she is…

The scientist who coined the term ‘global warming’, Wallace Broeker, in the 1970′s has come up with a solution to help scrub out all of the CO2 that we are producing – artificial trees. His plan, in full, would cost something like $600Bn a year.

Here’s another idea – what about REAL trees? We have moors in this country that aren’t used for anything, they used to have trees. What about the vast grasslands (steppes) that are generally empty in asia? What about reclaiming the edges of deserts like the chinese have been doing? Plant real trees in these places and it’ll cost a hell of a lot less than $600Bn.

One thing he seems to have overlooked – the artificial trees use plastic. So he advocates getting oil, generating CO2 in creating plastics and artificial trees, to take out the CO2…
