The fascination with our weather is something British perhaps, but now I see our cousins are having just as bad a time of it too! Although admittedly, the two foot of snow in Milwaukee (was it there, I read it?) is a bit more than our one foot.

We are due some more though, and when the weather man bandies words around like ‘from Siberia’ or ‘from the Arctic Circle’, it sends a proverbial chill down your spine. Time to get stock up on tinned tuna, corned beef, taters and dried milk.

I’m still waiting on these Christmas present deliveries though …

The weather here yesterday was weird, nice until the early afternoon then it just started raining on and off.

After dinner though it really opened up, I can honestly say I haven’t heard it rain as bad at least here in the UK. It really pissed it down. The clothes I’d left out were still dripping this morning and it was sunny and warm, and looked dried up. It was too dark to take pics.

Having lived in the US for eleven years I got used to the way the Americans report weather. They have advanced radars, color schemes that show exactly where storms are, thickness reports on snow, wind speeds, and all of this is pretty accurate.

Here in the UK it’s another matter. Radar? What the hell is that? Here we have a rain symbol plastered across Lincolnshire, Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and basically our weather people are saying, anything north of London well you have some rain but really we don’t give a shit.

Yes, it’s just like that. London and the south are one group with fairly accurate reporting. North of London is “the north” and they don’t care.

Having just seen a report on the BBC saying that Scotland and Newcastle have snow. Never mind the bits in between. Never mind Lincolnshire has had three hours, going on four, of snow, and it’s still coming down.

I think if we had a fairly decent weather forecasting system, radar images to show rain, potential storms, movement and so on, and we wouldn’t know what to do it would be that amazing to us.

Unfortunately the site in question, , is only in the US right now. What amazes me though, is that the US is huge compared to the UK and they can forecast whether you’d need an umbrella or not, yet in the UK the weather forecast says rain all day and you get 10 minutes of rain. Go figure!

I wish we had that site. Except an accurate version for the UK.
